ABOUT PROJECT

A premium experience for finance people, adding value by helping personalize the most important information at a glance.

The New York City based financial information empire Bloomberg asked for a new future vision of their professional app. This should include not just a visual refresh, but a complete whole rethinking and redesign of their navigation and the interaction the users have with it in order to provide a more meaningful and efficient experience. This is an app decision makers pay a significant amount of money to have access to, so add real value and tailor their specific needs through design was a key in the project.

PROJECT GOALS

The goal for this project was to create a premium experience for users that pay up to 24k a year in order to have access to the app. The answer to that challenge was personalization, no two people will have the same experience, since users can choose their own experience depending on interests and priorities.

PROCESS

The task was to redesign and create a premium mobile experience for financial professionals to be able to access their information without having to be bounded to their big machines. The ultimate offering was freedom.

The process was full of interesting challenges such as working with concepts, user journeys and an interface that would host complex levels of information, with high security standards. To do this in an in an elegant and user friendly way, was an intense labor of learning that constraints are often disguised opportunities. Through extended periods of brainstorming, research and ideation, we came up with a grid system (very innovative in 2013), that was smart to learn the user’s most accessed information points, and display them accordingly. The grids would change the position and size of the information displayed, periodically learning from the user in order to offer the most relevant content. Changes to the menu, messaging system and information graphics, made the experience more pleasant and desirable.
